IAG Restructure

Due to structural and administrative changes within Hertfordshire Constabulary it became necessary for the Herts IAG to restructure in a way that would allow us to continue to work effectively with the Hertfordshire Constabulary.

Previously the Herts IAG consisted of three areas, each holding separate meetings and having a chair and vice chair in each area. It is now agreed that Herts IAG will become one single IAG covering the whole of Hertfordshire.

An interim group of IAG members are currently looking at how the new structure will function.

Some of the document s contained in this website will need updating once the changes and new structure have been finalised.

The I A G are a group of diverse people, who provide independent advice to the police. This can be either general information or specific to an incident or investigation.

The group can give feedback on police policies, tactics and practices, the aim being to increase police sensitivity to the needs and concerns of members of the community who may otherwise not be represented.

The issues discussed may be local problems or national ones.

The aim is to try to fully represent the whole community on our panels so we try to recruit spokespersons for issues of Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Faith, Race and Disability alongside invited members of the Police force.
