PowerPoint PresentationHertfordshire Independent Advisory Group (IAG)
The IAG are a group of indedpendent people advising the Police Force where their strengths and weaknesses lie.
Some of the issues discussed are local problems and others are national.
The aim is to try to fully represent the whole community. Around the table sit members of the community that reflect issues of Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Faith, Race and Disability alongside invited members of the Police Force.

The Issue
Hertfordshire Police received a complaint from a member of the public about the food served in their custody suites. The concern was specifically about the provision of Halal meals as their stated ingredients included the emulsifier E471. E471 can be extracted from animal or vegetable origin. Herts IAG flew the flag for LGBT IAG in a partnership with Hertfordshire Police at Brighton Pride August 2007
Members, friends and families of the LGBT community at this year's Brighton Pride event flocked to the Hertfordshire Constabulary stand, taking time out to speak with officers about career prospects, hate crime and life in the police service. Read more...
02/07/07 - IAG National Working PartyOn Monday 2nd July 2007, Assistant Chief Constable David Collins hosted a working party consisting of around 40 IAG members, Police Authority representatives, Police Staff and Officers.
The event was generously sponsored by the Centre of Excellence in Diversity (COED) team at the National Policing Improvement Agency, Bramshill. Read more...

01/06/07 - Police Station Accessibility ReviewAt the June, 2007, meeting of the Western Area IAG the Constabulary agreed that members of the Western Area IAG would carry out a Survey of the police stations in West Herts regarding Accessibility.
The working group lead by Bob Heaver will make recommendations where there is an apparent need for improvement' at the next West Herts IAG meeting in 26th November 2007. Read more...
23/04/07 - National Front MarchChris Auker-Howlett, Chair of the West of Hertfordshire Independent Advisory Group, was contacted by Chief Inspector Paul Newell and Inspector Clare Smith, from Hemel Hempstead Police station.
He was asked to give advice on the legal National Front march, with regard to the effects of the event on members of the ethnic minority communities, other minority communities, and the general public. Read more...
