POLICY REVIEW PROCEDURE
February 2008
One of the opportunities of an IAG member is to review the policies within Hertfordshire Constabulary. All policies within Hertfordshire Constabulary are available for public viewing on the Hertfordshire Constabulary website (http://www.herts.police.uk/).
There is no expectation upon IAG members to review all policies on the register. Any advice provided by IAG members is independent of the Constabulary, and carries no responsibility or liability for outcomes; any advice received will be from the individual rather than a collective IAG response.
For policies that have been submitted to the IAG for consultation, any feedback received will be considered by the author for inclusion into the policy. Any feedback received from IAG members reviewing a policy independently from the consultation process will be forwarded to the author for consideration at the time of the policy review date.
Hertfordshire Constabulary will consider all advice provided by IAG members; the Community Engagement Officer will provide feedback around the advice that individuals have provided, including reasons why the advice was taken/not taken.
1. Area IAGs provided with current list of all policies within Hertfordshire Constabulary.
2. IAG members choose which policy they wish to review and provide details to the Policy and Information Officer who will provide IAG member with policy.
3. Individuals will be provided with a cover sheet so that their feedback can be recorded and an audit trail created.
4. IAG member name, policy number and title, and date policy is reviewed recorded on spreadsheet.
5. Policy and Information Officer feeds back IAG comments to the policy author for consideration.
6. Community Engagement Officer seeks feedback from the ICO to pass on to IAG member.
If a policy is deemed to have a particular affect on a minority/community group, the policy sponsor/author will still have responsibility to consult with groups of people whom are considered likely to be affected by the implementation of the proposed policy.
