Hertfordshire Constabulary is continually working to build upon the good relationship that has already been established between the Constabulary and diverse communities within the County. Hertfordshire Independent Advisory Group (IAG) plays a crucial role in ensuring that the needs of these communities are fully understood and considered by the Constabulary.
By being independent from the Constabulary,
Hertfordshire IAG can provide a community perspective and have a valuable influence on policing matters in Hertfordshire. Through their feedback, ideas and views, IAG members can constructively inform our actions, decisions, policies and procedures. I am committed to ensuring that advice provided by the IAG is embraced, where appropriate, but members are not responsible for Hertfordshire Constabulary’s actions.
For advice to be freely given and received, it is necessary to create a trusting relationship between the Constabulary and Critical Advisors, without undermining the independence and credibility of the IAG. This requires openness and honesty on all sides, something I and my fellow Chief Officers are firmly committed to.
I hope that all IAG members benefit from, and feel valued by, working with the Constabulary. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the commitment you have shown to continuing to improve community relations in the County as we all seek to make Hertfordshire safer for its citizens.
